Vintage English Pottery | Falstaff Large Character Jug by Royal Doulton D6287 | 20th Century Ceramic

This is the Royal Doulton Falstaff large character jug, produced during the mid-20th century as part of the company’s well-known series of theatrical and literary figures. The model carries the Falstaff name impressed on the reverse along with the Royal Doulton backstamp and reference number D6287.

The jug is crafted in glazed ceramic with detailed hand-painted features typical of Royal Doulton’s character series. It measures approximately 16 cm in height, 19 cm in width and 14 cm in depth, with a weight of 700 g. The modelling and coloration reflect the classic portrayal of Shakespeare’s Sir John Falstaff, a subject produced in several sizes across the Doulton catalogue.

Research confirms this model number was introduced in the 1950s and remained in production for a number of years, making it a recognised piece among collectors of character jugs. The example offered here shows no damage, chips or cracks based on inspection of the photographs provided.
