This Kingston Pottery ceramic character jug depicts a Dickens-style gentleman in a top hat, produced in England with a glossy glaze and hand-painted detailing. The underside carries the Kingston Pottery stamp, confirming its origin as part of the company’s traditional English Toby jug production.

The jug features expressive facial modelling and a sculpted hat handle, typical of Kingston Pottery’s mid-to-late twentieth century ceramic work. The glaze shows natural age-related crazing consistent with the pottery’s vintage finish and firing technique.

Kingston Pottery operated in England during the twentieth century and became known for its distinctive Toby jugs, whimsical character pitchers, and hand-decorated ceramics. Pieces inspired by Charles Dickens characters remain among the most recognisable themes from British pottery studios of the period.

The condition shows no visible chips or cracks beyond natural age-related crazing as shown in the photos.
