Antique Coronation Jug Ceramic Pitcher John Haddock Sons Royal Vitreous England 1937 Collectible

Ceramic Coronation Jug Pitcher Vintage British Pottery John Haddock Royal Vitreous England 1937

This antique ceramic jug was produced by John Haddock & Sons in England as part of the Coronation commemorative wares celebrating King George VI in 1937. Made in Royal Vitreous earthenware, it reflects British interwar commemorative pottery traditions and was intended for both domestic use and display.

The jug features a flared rim with blue band detailing, a sturdy loop handle, and a centrally placed coronation transfer depicting King George VI framed by heraldic motifs. The glaze is smooth with a semi-gloss finish, and the form is balanced with a slightly tapered body. The base carries the printed John Haddock & Sons Royal Vitreous Made in England backstamp, confirming production origin and period. Height measures approximately 14 cm, with a width of 15 cm and a depth of 10 cm. The weight is 230 grams.

John Haddock & Sons operated in Staffordshire and were known for producing durable Royal Vitreous earthenware, particularly for commemorative and institutional wares in the early 20th century. Coronation items from 1937 were widely issued but are now increasingly collected for their historical context, making them suitable for shelf display, historical decor, or as a collector-focused display piece.

The condition is good vintage condition overall. There is light surface wear consistent with age, minor glaze speckling inside, and small manufacturing imperfections typical of period Royal Vitreous production. No cracks or structural repairs are observed.
