LINGARD DICKENS Mr Pickwick Proposes A Toast! Collectible Hand Painted Vintage Porcelain Teapot Made in England, Novelty Teapot Ornaments

A beautifully hand painted collectors teapot from the 1950s. This teapot is marked Mr Pickwick Proposes A Toast, Made in England. It has the Lingard, Webster & Co pottery mark. This gent is wearing a smart black and gold jacket, yellow waistcoat with gold buttons, blue and gold cravat and gold specs, Mr Pickwick has a pleasing smile on his face just ready to serve you afternoon tea. A wonderful novelty character teapot in the shape of Mr Pickwick, the eponymous hero of Charles Dickens' first novel, 'The Posthumous Papers Of The Pickwick Club', first published in 1836. This design, 'Mr Pickwick Proposes A Toast,' was advertised in the Pottery Gazette Reference Book in 1953.
