This vintage wind up tin toy motorcycle with sidecar, model MS281, was produced in China during the 1980s. The original box is marked “Collectable Item” and “MS281 Made in China,” confirming its export collectible production.

The toy is constructed from lithographed tinplate with red, yellow, blue and black detailing. It features a motorcycle rider and a passenger seated in a matching sidecar pod. The wind up mechanism is located on the body and the original metal key is included. When wound, the motorcycle moves forward with rolling wheels, supported by small stabilising wheels beneath the frame. The model number MS281 and country of origin are printed on the rear section.

During the 1980s, Chinese factories produced a wide range of nostalgic mechanical tin toys inspired by mid-century European and Japanese designs. Motorcycle and sidecar combinations were popular novelty subjects, designed primarily for the adult collectible market rather than children’s active play. The “Collectable Item” marking reflects this positioning.
