This vintage Spode bone china figurine is the model Olivia, designed by British ceramic artist Pauline Shone and produced in England. The figure portrays an elegantly dressed woman wearing a long period gown and a broad sculpted hat.

Made from fine white bone china, Olivia has a polished glazed surface with restrained gold detailing around the neckline, waist, jewellery and handbag. The elongated silhouette, pleated dress, puffed sleeves and floral hat create a formal late Victorian or Edwardian-inspired appearance.

Spode was established in Stoke-on-Trent and became closely associated with English ceramic production and the development of commercial bone china. Pauline Shone designed a number of named female figures for Spode, including models such as Henrietta, Victoria and Priscilla. Comparable examples are generally attributed to the later twentieth century, particularly the 1970s.

The figurine appears to be in good vintage display condition with no obvious chips, cracks or repairs visible in the supplied photographs. The white glaze and gold decoration remain well presented. There are storage marks and light surface soiling around the underside rim, consistent with previous display. The base is clearly marked Olivia by Pauline Shone, Spode England Bone China.
