This porcelain bullfinch figurine was produced by Goebel in West Germany and carries the 1976 date alongside the model number 38 018-11. It represents the brand’s naturalistic bird studies from this period, noted for hand-applied surface finishes and textured detailing on the wings and branch base.

The figurine is crafted in fine porcelain with matte hand-painted colour transitions, especially over the orange breast and grey wing pattern. It displays the Goebel West Germany stamp beneath the base, along with the mould and model numbers. The sculpture stands securely on a stylised tree branch and shows no chips, cracks, or repairs.

Goebel’s bird series of the 1970s reflected a continuation of earlier wildlife studies developed throughout the mid-century, characterised by realistic posture and lifelike feather modelling. This piece is consistent with that line, representing a bullfinch in flight with open wings and angled body.
