Vintage Beswick Spaniel Dogs Pair White Gold Staffordshire Mantel Figurines Made in England

This vintage pair of Beswick Staffordshire-style spaniel figurines is model 1378-5, made in England during the second half of the twentieth century. The two seated dogs form a coordinated facing mantel display.

Each hollow ceramic figure has a glossy white glaze, moulded fur texture, orange painted eyes and a black muzzle. Gold-tone collars and suspended lockets provide the principal decorative accents, while individually applied dark and gilt markings appear across the ears and bodies.

Beswick produced model 1378 in several graduated sizes as a twentieth-century interpretation of traditional Staffordshire mantel dogs. Model 1378-5 is one of the larger versions and measures approximately 19 cm high. The underside carries the impressed Beswick England name and model number.

These figures are a coordinated pair rather than mechanically identical copies. Minor differences in facial modelling, painted markings, gilding and glaze application are part of their individual manufacture.

The pair is in good vintage condition with general surface marks, light rubbing and age-related wear around the unglazed base rims. Some minor wear and variation are visible on the gold decoration and hand-painted details. No obvious major chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs.
