Winstanley Style Cat Figurine Hand Painted Ceramic Sitting Feline Yellow Eyes British Studio Pottery Decor

This vintage-style Winstanley Style pottery cat figurine depicts a seated feline with an upright posture, pointed ears and expressive yellow eyes. Its substantial rounded form and mottled colouring create a distinctive decorative presence.

The figure is made from glazed ceramic or earthenware and finished with an individually applied abstract coat pattern in black, grey, brown and cream tones. The face has a paler finish with hand-painted eyes, nose, mouth and whisker details. Fine glaze crazing is visible across parts of the surface and is consistent with the age and production character of glazed pottery.

Winstanley pottery cats originated in Britain in the late 1950s and became particularly recognised for hand-finished coat patterns and expressive feline forms. Because each piece was individually decorated, variations in colour, markings and facial detail are expected. Many documented Winstanley examples feature cathedral glass eyes and a signed or numbered base. On this example, the underside is fully covered with dark felt, so the original maker’s signature and size marking cannot be inspected or independently confirmed from the photographs.

The figurine is in pre-owned condition with visible overall glaze crazing, surface variation and age-related marks. No obvious major chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs. The underside has a fitted dark felt covering with some fibre wear. As the base mark is concealed, buyers should assess the form, finish and photographs carefully when considering attribution.
