This vintage wind up robot, model MS297, is a boxed collectible tin toy produced in China during the 1980s. Designed in a retro space style, it reflects classic late 20th century mechanical toy production aimed at adult collectors rather than children, as stated on the original box label.

The robot is constructed from lithographed tinplate with painted detailing in yellow, red, blue and silver. It features a printed space suit design, helmet visor illustration and a rear jetpack motif. The original box is included and marked “Collectable Item” with model number MS297 and “Made in China.” The wind up key is missing. The mechanism is present but untested due to the absence of the key.

The 1980s saw a revival of classic tin robot designs inspired by mid century Japanese space toys. Chinese manufacturers reproduced these nostalgic forms for the export collectible market. MS297 follows this tradition with simplified mechanical construction and bold lithographic graphics typical of that era.

Condition is good vintage condition with visible paint wear and edge scuffs consistent with age. The box shows creasing, surface marks and light corner wear. Wind up key is missing.
