Vintage Beswick Royal Doulton Spaniel Dogs Pair 1378 6 White Gold English Mantel Figurines

This coordinated vintage pair comprises two English Staffordshire-style spaniel mantel figures, one marked Royal Doulton Burslem England and the other Beswick England. Both figures carry the model number 1378-6.

Each hollow-moulded ceramic dog has a glossy white glaze with raised fur detailing, amber-coloured eyes, black facial features and gilt collars. Scattered gilt markings and moulded medallions complete the decoration. The figures face in opposite directions when displayed together.

The model follows the traditional Staffordshire mantel dog form that remained popular in English ceramics throughout the twentieth century. Collector references associate model 1378-6 with mid-to-late twentieth-century Beswick and Royal Doulton production.

Although presented as a coordinated pair, these are not two factory-identical examples. One was produced under the Royal Doulton name and the other under Beswick. Small differences in height, profile, moulding and hand-applied decoration are therefore present and form part of their individual character.

Both figures remain in good vintage display condition. There is light rubbing to the gilt decoration, minor age-related surface marks and visible wear or soiling around the underside rims. No obvious chips, cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs.
