Vintage Porcelain Violin Player Crown S Mark Hand Painted Continental Gentleman Musician Collectable Ornament

This vintage porcelain figurine depicts an elegantly dressed gentleman violinist in eighteenth-century inspired clothing. The figure bears a crowned S mark beneath the base and is believed to be of Continental European manufacture from the mid-twentieth century.

The musician is modelled standing beside a textured tree stump while holding a violin against his shoulder. His pale yellow floral coat, green cravat, white waistcoat, blue breeches and black shoes have been individually hand painted. The glazed porcelain surface is completed with gilded details around the cuffs and circular base.

Crowned S marks were used in several European porcelain traditions, particularly among German and Thuringian factories. Because similar versions of this mark were employed by more than one manufacturer, the exact factory cannot be confirmed from the backstamp alone. The period costume and musical subject reflect the revival of Rococo and eighteenth-century decorative themes in twentieth-century porcelain production.

The figurine is in fair pre-owned vintage condition with age-related surface marks, rubbing and wear to the gilded base. The raised hand is empty; comparable violinist figures are sometimes shown holding a bow or another accessory, so an original component may be absent. A fine line is visible beside one of the openings beneath the base. No other obvious major cracks or repairs are visible in the supplied photographs. The original box is not included.
