This vintage ceramic character jug depicts an elderly woman from the Charles Dickens series, produced in England by Henry S. Key Ltd (Potteries Hull). The underside carries the maker’s mark confirming its authenticity within the traditional English toby and character jug tradition.

The jug measures approximately 15 cm in height, 20 cm in width and 13 cm in depth, with a weight of about 580 g. It features a hand-painted crackle-glazed surface, sculpted facial detail, and a sturdy handle typical of mid-century British pottery craftsmanship.

Potteries Hull was active through the mid-20th century, producing a range of Dickens-themed ceramics that became popular collectibles. This piece follows that tradition with its expressive modelling and warm tonal palette associated with the period.

Condition is very good with no chips, cracks or repairs beyond natural age-related crazing visible in the glaze.
