Vintage Lingard Webster Teapot Hexagonal Imari Style Cobalt Orange Gold Staffordshire English Pottery Collectible

Lingard Webster Imari Teapot Vintage Hexagonal Tunstall Staffordshire Cobalt Orange Gilt Decorative English Pottery

This vintage Lingard Webster teapot has a substantial hexagonal body decorated in an English Imari-style palette of deep cobalt blue, burnt orange, white and gold. The angular form, contrasting panels and extensive gilt decoration give it a strong display presence.

The glazed earthenware body features moulded ribbing around the lower section, a square-profile handle, curved spout and fitted hexagonal lid with a faceted finial. Painted floral motifs, scrolling foliage and geometric details are arranged across the individual panels. The interior and underside have a rich brown glaze, while a faint impressed Lingard mark is visible beneath the base.

Lingard, Webster & Co. produced teapots and associated tableware at the Swan Pottery in Tunstall, Staffordshire. The company became particularly associated with decorative English Imari pottery, using cobalt, orange and gold to offer an accessible interpretation of more expensive Derby-style ceramics. Comparable hexagonal examples are generally attributed to the mid-twentieth century.

The teapot is in distressed vintage condition. The end of the spout is chipped and incomplete. There is extensive rubbing and loss to the gilding, together with surface scratches, crazing, paint wear and age-related marks across the body, handle, lid and raised edges. Minor rim and glaze wear is also visible. No other obvious major cracks or repairs are apparent in the supplied photographs. Due to the damaged spout and overall wear, this piece is recommended primarily for decorative display.
