The two seated dogs form a coordinated facing mantel display.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach hollow ceramic figure has a glossy white glaze, moulded fur texture, orange painted eyes and a black muzzle. Gold-tone collars and suspended lockets provide the principal decorative accents, while individually applied dark and gilt markings appear across the ears and bodies.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBeswick produced model 1378 in several graduated sizes as a twentieth-century interpretation of traditional Staffordshire mantel dogs. Model 1378-5 is one of the larger versions and measures approximately 19 cm high. The underside carries the impressed Beswick England name and model number.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThese figures are a coordinated pair rather than mechanically identical copies. Minor differences in facial modelling, painted markings, gilding and glaze application are part of their individual manufacture.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pair is in good vintage condition with general surface marks, light rubbing and age-related wear around the unglazed base rims.
